HANDS ON! (2024)
In 2024, Agder Teaterlaboratorium was dedicated to the hands and manual practices. It was an invitation to delve into the primatial condition, and relearn how to become a Primate.
15 artists were invited to experiment together on the means and meanings offered by hands: How we utilize them, connect and interact through them, create with them – and how hands use us. We examined hands and manual labour in relation to artistic, everyday, and communal practices posing questions, such as: How do we use hands in our artistic and daily practices? What kinds of manual work and activities do we like to exercise, and what is their significance for us? How do we connect with others by means of hands? What is the role of hands in relating to the material world, and especially to the more-than-human environment? Where can we find, and how could we enhance, the beauty and delight that resides in the hands and hand-related tactile experiences?
